Fishing ONE FISH, TWO FISH Grab a friend for a half or full-day of deep-sea fishing. Many fisherman, local and visitors alike, land a variety of trophy fish including wahoo, dolphin, tuna, kingfish, sailfish, marlin and barracuda, which are plentiful in local waters. Fresh water fishing, a trip that winds through lush tropical vegetation, tall cliffs and palm trees down the Chavón River is also available. Although fresh water may seem like less of a challenge, weekend warriors should take heart, near world-record snook have been caught in the Chavón! Click here for rates. Love the experience of sailing, but don´t know how? At the Casa de Campo Marina, you can learn from the globally recognized professionals of the Scuola della Vela, direct from Italy. Learn More From November through May, the Scuola della Vela teaches individual sailing lessons to adults and children 12 years of age or older---great for family bonding or a group team building experience---from their base at the Casa de Campo Marina. The school is open to all and maintains the highest standards in education and equipment. Scuola della Vela is considered the foremost authority for sailing enthusiasts at the renowned Costa Smeralda. Directed by Franco Piston, a national instructor FIV, the school has been teaching sailing at Costa Smeralda since 1978, assisted by respected national instructors and sailing experts. Kayaking A wonderful adventure for families and friends, two different kayaking experiences are available at Casa de Campo. Kayak in the crystal water of the Caribbean Sea off Minitas Beach or enjoy the natural beauty of the Dominican countryside while quietly paddling along the tranquil Chavon River. Snorkeling If you enjoy snorkeling, you´ll have a great time at Casa de Campo. Snorkel at the resort´s private Minitas Beach, or on an excursion to one of several pristine offshore islands. Scuba Casa de Campo works with several reputable SCUBA service providers that offer guests a myriad of nearby diving experiences. The dive sites are 5 to 30 minutes away by boat and typically range from 30 to 100 feet deep with a range of difficulty for all divers. This region is one of the most spectacular diving destinations in the world due to the beautiful weather, calm seas and underwater visibility of 100 plus feet year round. Learn More Diving at Parque Nacional del Este, a government protected nature reserve, is uniquely beautiful. Incredible coral reefs, mangrove forests, rocky coasts, sandy beaches, subtropical forests, and sea-grass beds are among its fragile ecosystems. An abundance of sea life such as lobster, eagle rays, manatees, whales, sharks, dolphins, turtles and more await within these thriving, colorful reefs. Some of the more popular dive sites include the Wall and the Aquarium at Catalina Island, Bayahibe Reef, Coco Reef, Dominicus Reef, and the Coco and St. George Wrecks.
