The Highlights of the 2nd Annual Casa de Campo Food & Wine Festival
The second edition of the Casa de Campo Food & Wine Festival on Friday the 11th and Saturday the 12th of October was the perfect way to wrap up a week full of gastronomic excellence. The modern Marina Riverside Center was transformed into a grand tasting pavilion where guests could try as many wines and spirits as they liked, with a stage to watch 4 celebrity chefs in action.
Savory delights, exquisite wines, celebrity chefs, and pure indulgence!
For 2 days, our celebrity chefs generously shared their tips and tricks as to turn simple recipes into culinary masterpieces. Hubert Keller created the freshest bites of yellowfin sashimi topped with sea urchin, salicornia, pickled red onion, and citrus vinaigrette. Scott Conant delighted everyone with a classic gnocchi pomodoro, asking the audience to taste it directly from the pan. Shawn McClain combined bold Mediterranean flavors with lamb meatballs over white bean hummus. And Chef Tita elevated Dominican ingredients preparing a creamy Sánchez shrimp bisque made with various textures of the local seafood. TV presenter Raúl de Molina hosted both days, charming the audience with his love of food and wine, some amusing travel chronicles, and how he has witnessed the chefs succeed in their different endeavors.
A true feast for all foodies and wine lover
In the meantime, music livened up the space as guests explored the Whispering Angel, La Bodega, Casa Brugal, Sembra, and El Catador wine stands, each offering a curated selection of their finest bottles. The festival also included other spirit selections such as Brugal and Barceló rums, 1800 and Teremana tequilas, Hennessy cognac, Disaronno amaretto, and Chinola local fruit liqueur, as well as Presidente, Corona and Estrella beers, Santo Domingo coffee, and handmade Dominican cigars from Tabacalera de García and Arturo Fuente. Guests could also eat delicious mini burgers from The Butcher Shop, jamón ibérico, and ice cream from Cinco Gelato as they waited for the next chef, or get personalized souvenirs from the American Express stand.
Feasting on fantastic flavors
On Saturday, right after the main festival came to an end, a select list of guests went to Minitas Beach Club for a magical dinner under the stars. The affair was hosted by renowned local chefs Rodrigo Menéndez, Joaquín Renovales, and Saverio Stassi, featuring exquisite appetizers, signature dishes, and glasses of wine all throughout the evening. The atmosphere was really festive, featuring with a fire dance show at the beach, live music, and fireworks that lit up the night and closed a perfect week of celebration.
